Senior Simulation Engineer (Senior/Principal Consultant Grade)

Role outline:

Are you a technical guru who wants the opportunity to pass on your knowledge to others and develop a team’s competency? Are you able to understand complex systems, break them down into their constituent parts focusing on the areas of interest based upon a client’s priorities? Are you an experienced Python coder with knowledge of containerised code deployment? Do you understand various modelling paradigms such as System Dynamics, Discrete Event Simulation and Agent Based Modelling? As a Techmodal Senior Simulation Engineer you will provide technical oversight on multiple projects in respect to conceptual design, coding best practice and verification & validation strategies. You will be a key player in furthering the ‘Strategic Decision Modelling’ offering that Techmodal provides to our clients.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the quality of the code in respect to readability, comments, performance and validity
  • You will be responsible for developing a framework to upskill appropriate team members in the coding competency to deliver high performing models
  • You will provide the technical authority on all source code developed by the team
  • You will become the owner of the code for the simulation model product offerings that Techmodal provide
  • You will be responsible for designing the technical development roadmap for the simulation model product offerings

The successful candidate will have:

  • A maths or science background
  • Experience of applying operational research methods to solve technical business challenges
  • Python coding expertise (desirable if you have knowledge of the SimPy, Salabim, Mesa libraries)
  • Experience of deploying containerised code
  • Experience of extracting data from various data sources, such as: Excel; SQL Database; JSON, and using data Extract, Transform and Load within a python coding environment to then output data to an appropriate source to facilitate analytics and analysis

Hybrid working and Travel.

We offer a flexible approach to working in the office, working remotely and from client sites, whilst we try to minimise travel whenever possible, our consultants do sometimes travel to various client sites across the UK at the clients request.
