Enterprise Integration

Search applications often are integrated into large software applications or complex information systems with multiple integration points. Good integration tools should include a flexible and rich set of services offering programmatic access (Web services or Java) to integrate the system with pre-existing services, data sources and application systems.

FAST ESP offers multiple integration points to hook into a user’s pre-existing systems, enabling the pro­tection of information assets, software applications and information systems. Those integration points include:

• Platform Services. These services offer program­matic access to a set of high-level functional areas in FAST ESP to allow for building workflows, managing a FAST ESP installation, and integrating applications into FAST ESP, among other abilities.
• Modular Architecture. Combined with well-defined APIs for integration, FAST ESP’s architecture enables a variety of content types to be retrieved using dedicated connectors.
• Open Document Processing Framework. Custom adaptations and integration of customer-specific document processing enable proprietary categorization, summary generation, content restructuring, and other customizations.
