Techmodal have an exciting opportunity for a talented consultant to join a young, fast growing management consultancy. Techmodal is a Bristol based consultancy company working with a range of clients in both the public and private sector, specialising in Defence. We provide a unique offering to our clients based on exceptional individuals combining deep subject knowledge with a fresh and innovative approach to problem solving and a detailed understanding of the need for and application of management information.
Techmodal are seeking two talented and hard-working consultants with a minimum of two years of professional experience in the Defence or technology industry to join our team and support the delivery of consultancy projects across our portfolio of clients. The successful candidates will be responsible for the management and delivery of their own projects and work with the rest of the Techmodal team to develop new opportunities and build client relationships. Responsibilities will include:
• Delivering short to medium term projects with the MOD and Defence companies relating Defence change
• Work with clients to identify and solve complex and challenging problems and engage with stakeholders to ensure buy in
• Creation of complex Microsoft Excel models, to assist clients to analyse areas of the clients business
• Analysing relationships between activities to enable the understanding dependencies within organisations and their supply chains
• Developing solutions relating to managing and interrogating large data sets
• Development of presentations and reports to be delivered to clients as part of key project deliverables
• Delivering training and workshops to support the delivery of company projects
The successful candidate will:
• Be degree qualified in a numerate discipline or have equivalent experience.
• Be able to demonstrate a strong track record of effective liaison with clients and their stakeholders.
• Experience of working with inventory of logistics data.
• Complete familiarity and confidence in using spreadsheets to create basic and complex models.
• Knowledge of the defence industry or able to apply knowledge of other industry supply chains.
Candidates who can show a strong academic background in a numerate discipline without experience in the domain would also be considered.

Enterprise Application Developer | £TBC
Techmodal have an exciting opportunity for a talented enterprise application developer to join a young, fast growing management consultancy. Techmodal is a Bristol based consultancy company working with a range of clients in both the public and private sector, specialising in Defence. We provide bespoke web based software applications to meet the specific requirements of users, empowering them to make better decisions.
Techmodal are seeking a talented Enterprise Application Developer to work join the team to deliver an exciting new project, working with the Army to help plan training activity and forecast costs. The successful application will be responsible for the architectural design of the system and work with our existing web application developers to help build the application and link it to a robust data model. Key tasks will include:
• Working with the client to ensure intuitive user interface design, optimal reporting formats and acceptance of system requirements
• Identifying data relationships, process improvement and optimisation opportunities within the software design
• Working with Oracle developer tools
• Testing of models, algorithms and applications to ensure validity and robustness
• Exploit a wide range of development tools to achieve the best possible outcome for the client
• Creation of complex Microsoft Excel models to assist analysis of areas of the client’s business
• Analysing relationships between activities to enable the understanding of dependencies within organisations and their supply chains
• Developing solutions relating to managing and interrogating large data sets
• Complete familiarity and confidence in using databases and spreadsheets to create basic and complex applications and models
The ideal candidate would have most or all of the following key skills:
• Familiarity with Oracle 10g and 11g toolsets, including APEX 4.x
• Manipulation and presentation of large, complex datasets
• Some experience of Oracle DBA work
• Highly numerate, ideally with a good degree in a computational or numerate subject (computer science, maths, physics etc)
• Knowledge and experience of testing methodologies
Additionally, knowledge of other enterprise platforms, particularly MS SQL Server / VB.NET / C# development would be an advantage.
Candidates who can show a strong academic background in a software development discipline without practical experience or candidates with significant practical experience in application and model development will be considered for this role.
