Developer

Being a software developer at Techmodal allows me to put my technical skills to the test on a regular basis. Typically I’m working on multiple tasks in parallel so I have to prioritise my work stack into what I think is most important; this could be anything from bug fixes to new features. My time is usually split fairly evenly between designing solutions and then actually writing the code for them. The variety between the projects is what keeps the job fresh and the talented team around me is what makes my role so enjoyable.

Consultant

My role as a consultant involves working closely with stakeholders to deliver cost modelling projects. This typically results in scoping exercise, requirements capture, sponsor meetings, and cost model development, whilst also managing the project and being the interface to the client. I currently manage a small team working on delivering two projects, which can often lead to new challenges each day. Ensuring the team works cohesively and effectively, and continually delivers a high level of results to the customer guarantees a good day’s work!

Cost modeller

As part of my role as a cost modeller within the Finance and Risk Modelling function, I provide costing advice and expertise directly to the finance function within DE&S. Day–to–day, this involves engaging with a variety of stakeholders to ensure consistency with modelling practice and a high quality of outputs in support of reporting cycles. I own and operate the cost model, which needs continuous development and improvement, to meet the consistently changing landscape of requirements and challenges from the project.
